Maureen Fernandes is an S2C2 staff member and Cryo-EM Research Professional. She received her DVM and MS degrees in Brazil, followed by a PhD in Molecular and Applied Virology in 2019, where she studied virus–host interactions and viral pathogenesis. She completed postdoctoral training at Cornell University and Stanford University, with research combining virology and structural biology. Her interests include applying cryo-EM to understand mechanisms of human diseases. Outside of the lab, she enjoys having fun with her puppies, whether outdoors or snuggling on the couch.
